Drops Download

Drops

There are versions of Drops for Windows and Linux.

Please note, that I developed Drops primarily for my own needs; despite it's high version number Drops and Windrops are very experimental software.

Drops and Windrops are freeware but not open source.

The linux version is a binary for Linux on a PC with an Intel processor or compatible. It should work on any Linux system which supports the ELF executable format.

The interface language can be switched between English and German by a menu.

If something does not work allright or if it doesn't work at all, please send me an e-mail, I'll fix it as fast as possible.

I check all the archives for viruses before uploading them. But I can't guarantee the absence of viruses. If you want to be safe, check them yourself after downloading.

Requirements:
Pentium 100Mhz or better, 16 MB Ram, 4 MB free space on HD, 8 Bit SVGA graphics or better
Download:

Drops comes in two flavors, Drops8 for editing colormapped 8 bit images, and Drops16 for editing truecolor images. The name Drops16 might be misleading, it works in full 24 bit internally but uses only 16 bit to display.

Windows downloads

You need to get the base package and one of Drops8 or Drops16.

Linux downloads

You need to get the resource package and one of Drops8 or Drops16. Install the base package in your home directory, Drops searches the files in ~/.dropsrc

The dynamic executables need the X11 libraries, SDL v1.2, PNG v2.0, and JPEG v6.0 installed. If you miss some of the libaries you can try the static executables. All the needed libraries are usually part of a Linux distribution, so the dynamic executables should work on most systems.
