To build a bridge, for instance over a river or the like, it is sufficient to build tracks down on each shore as shown below. Then simply click one of the tracks ends with the bridge building tool, and a bridge will automatically be build.
The example shows building a rail bridge:

Simutrans 0.80.0 and newer can also build bridges with ramps. The procedure is very similar to the standard bridges, just lay the tracks and click one end with the bridge building tool.
